‘’Türkiye’de Zaman_Τime in Turkey’’ Sismanoglio Megaro’da
Yunanistan Başkonsolosluğu’na ait Sismanoglio Megaro binası, Zaman Gazetesi’nin 25. kuruluş yıldönümü kapsamında düzenlenen ‘’Türkiye’de Zaman_Time in Turkey’’ konulu fotoğraf sergisinin mekânlarından biri olarak 15 Kasım’da ziyaretçilere kapılarını açacak. Zaman Gazetesi Fotoğraf Editörü Selahattin Sevi’ye göre ‘’ gerek katılımcıların saygınlığı ve bilinirliğiyle gerekse kapsamı itibariyle dünya fotoğraf çevrelerinde büyük yankı uyandıran’’ ‘’Türkiye’de Zaman’’ sergisi, 15 Aralık 2011 tarihine kadar açık kalacak.
25 ünlü fotoğrafçılar Türkiye’yi fotoğrafladı, altısının eserleri Sismanoglio Megaro’da sergilenecek Sismanoglio Megaro’da Jane Evelyn Atwood, Samuel Borrendorff, Kathryn Cook, Claudine Doury ve George Georgiou gibi tanınmış fotoğrafçılarının eserleri sergilenecek. Dünya ve Türkiye’de ünlü Yunan fotoğrafçı Nikos Economopoulos’un eserleri de Sismanoglio Megaro’da ziyaretçilere sunulacak.

‘’Zonguldak’ta yerin 350 metre altına indiğimde hayatımdaki ilk kömür madeni tecrübemi yaşıyordum. Aşağıda sıcak, soğuk, pislik, klostrofobi ve karanlığa karşı hazırlıklı olmamı söylemişlerdi. Maden karanlık olduğu için flaş veya çekeceğim fotoğraflarda parlamaya yol açacak her hangi bir ışık kaynağı kullanmamam gerekiyordu.’’
Samuel Bollendorff – Sular Altında

“Türkiye’de Zaman_Time in Turkey” at the Sismanoglio Megaro
The Sismanoglio Megaro of the Consulate General of Greece will open its doors on 15 November 2011 with the photography exhibition “Türkiye’de Zaman_Time in Turkey” that is organised on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Zaman newspaper. This exhibition which according to Photography Editor of Zaman Newspaper Selahattin Sevi “be it for the respectability and recognition its participants enjoy be it for its scope will have global repercussions in the photography world” will last until 15 December 2011.
25 famous photographers took pictures in Turkey; works by 6 to be exhibited at the Sismanoglio Megaro At the Sismanoglio Megaro, the visitors will have the opportunity to see photographs by accomplished photographers, such as Jane Evelyn Atwood, Samuel Borrendorff, Kathryn Cook, Claudine Doury and George Georgiou. Also, works by Greek photographer Nicos Economopoulos, who is well-known abroad and in Turkey, will be exhibited at the Sismanoglio Megaro.

“My first time in a coal mine was 350 meters down, below Zonguldak, Turkey. For the photography I was intended to do, I wasn’t allowed to use flash or anything that might cause a spark.”

“Water management is one of the oldest and most entrenched issues in southeast Turkey. So much so that every new government for the past 40 years has worked on a range of dam and irrigation projects, all with the objective of solving this problem.”

“There is a mysterious atmosphere that infuses every corner in Ahlat. No one really knows how old the caves are; as for the cemeteries that are guessed to descend four stories, their mysteries will never be completely revealed. Only the roots of the trees above will be able to touch that history”.
